Alarms Systems/Police and Fire
The City of Delaware requires each individual and business that uses a security alarm system to obtain a permit through the police department. Applications can be found on the Forms and Permits Page or by stopping at the Police Department. Once completed the application form should be mailed or brought to the Department, including the registration fee. A yearly application fee of $10 for residential and $25 for business is required. For residential alarms, each false alarm in excess of three shall be charged $50. For business or other non residential users, each false alarm in excess of two, up to and including four false alarms, shall be charged a fee of $50, with each false alarm in excess of four being charged $100 each. The records department will then mail you a renewal notice prior to your permit expiration date. Please note that failure to register your alarm is in violation of Delaware City Ordinance 557.03, which requires that every building alarmed in the City of Delaware be registered. Failure to comply with this provision may result in penalties as provided by law.
