All civil matters filed in the Small Claims or General Divisions of the Delaware Municipal Court may be referred to mediation as outlined in Local Rules 6.01 – 6.08.  You can review the Local Rules here.

The mediation process is confidential.  During mediation, a neutral mediator will attempt to help you resolve your dispute outside of the courtroom.  The mediator will assist you in exchanging information and proposed resolutions.  Following mediation, the parties (often through the mediator) will inform the Court whether the case is settled.  If the case is not settled during mediation, it will proceed through the court system.
