Delaware Municipal Airport (DLZ) is a leading general aviation facility for central Ohio pilots and businesses.

The city oversees all aspects of the airport. It is home to approximately 80 aircraft and handles an estimated 40,000 operations per year, including corporate activity, training and pleasure flying. Primary users include people such as you: businessmen, residents of Delaware and surrounding counties, as well as transient users. Our full array of services includes fuel, ground power, maintenance, towing, business services, limousine and catering, as well as flight instruction for fixed-wing and aircraft learning.

The airport is strategically located to serve the rapidly expanding southern Delaware County area and north outer belt of Columbus, as well as the new commercial centers in Delaware, Powell, Dublin, Westerville and Hilliard. The availability of the airport to current and future users is important when one realizes that airports, even general aviation facilities, are a great generator of economic development. In fact, economic impact studies indicate that major employers rank the proximity to a general aviation airport fifth behind labor supplies, highway access, commercial service airports, and urban centers when selecting a site to locate.

With this mind, the city has aggressively pursued airport enhancements that include an expanded 5,000-foot runway and, next year, the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), which will allow us the ability to have a precision approach for horizontal and vertical navigation. Other upgrades include improvements to our flight terminal, lounges and weather briefing areas. We also have available land lease opportunities for hangar construction. 

Jet Stream Properties, Inc. opened in 2005 a 16,000 square-foot corporate hangar that includes 6,000 square feet of office space to accommodate three (and as many as five) large corporate turbojet aircraft. In 2006, the very latest in general aviation hanger space and amenities was put into service with the opening of AirSpace Place, a four-phase project that includes 72 units.
