Engineering

 

The Department of Engineering Services serves to manage, as well as assist other departments, in the implementation of the capital project process including the establishment of a project critical path, consultant selection, field data collection, project design, detail plan review, technical specification preparation, bid document development, bidding and award, construction management and supervision and project close out for both transportation and utility improvement projects. The department is also responsible for all engineering plan review functions associated with residential and commercial development plans submitted to the City for approval. City standard construction specifications are developed and updated through the department and compliance with these standards are monitored and assured by providing full time construction inspection on both public infrastructure and private development projects.

 

The Department of Engineering Services' authority lies within the existing Municipal Corporate Boundary of the City of Delaware:  MAP. 

 

Mission:

The Department of Engineering Services provides technical expertise and management support to the City in the administration and construction of roadway and utility infrastructure projects for both capital improvement and privately funded residential and commercial development activities.  We take pride in ensuring that compliance to construction specifications, standards and policies, are carefully monitored and enforced throughout the plan development, review, and construction operations of all projects.
